Erin A. Barkley joined the firm in August 2013. A Wyoming native, Erin graduated from high school in Cheyenne and the University of Wyoming in 2000, with a double major in English and German. She spent the last year of school as an exchange student at the University of Salzburg in Austria, then lived two years in Prague, Czech Republic, working in the administration of a teacher-training program. She returned to the States in 2003 for law school at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Upon law school graduation in 2006, she worked at the Utah's Attorney General's office, representing the agency that manages Utah's school trust lands. As an assistant attorney general in Utah, Erin's work included oil and gas law, title litigation, and drafting development agreements for commercial and residential development throughout the state. She worked on a number of land exchanges with private and federal agencies, and represented the agency in contract and land disputes at the trial and appellate level. After leaving the AG's office in 2008, she and her husband spent two years on a bicycle trip around Asia, the Middle East and Europe (blog at www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/bikingbarkleys), before returning home and settling in Boulder, Colorado in 2010. Her husband's job took them to Fort Myers, Florida in early 2013. While in Colorado and Florida, Erin worked from home for a number of insurance defense firms including Lathrop & Rutledge, in a litigation support role. When it came time to return to Cheyenne, Erin was thrilled to join Lathrop & Rutledge as a full-time associate. Erin and her husband have two kids and a dog, and take every opportunity to enjoy the outdoor amenities that Wyoming offers. Year Joined Firm
